Ganesh Himal Expedition
Ganesh Himal (7429m) is a sub-range of the Himalayan mountain range, lie between the Budhi Gandaki and Trisuli Gandaki valleys, northwest of Kathmandu and east of Langtang Himal. Some of the peaks of Ganesh Himal lie on the boarder with Tibet. Although the peaks are of no height of more than 7500m. the Ganesh Himal enjoys great vertical relief over the nearby valleys, specially Ganesh II & Ganesh III . the highest peak in Ganesh Himal is Ganesh I ( Yangra ). Although the peak was first attemted by H. W. Tilman’s team back in 1950, the first ascent took place in 1955 by a Franco-Swiss Expedition team via the Southeast Face and Ridge. Ganesh II ( Ganesh NW ) is notable for its exceptional steep rise above local terrain rising 5800m. from Burhi Gandaki in a horizontal distance of about 16 km. There were several unsuccessful attempts on this peak from 1950s and finally summited in 1981 via North east Spur (drive) and North Face.
